The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, commonly known as Saint Francis Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral. It is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. It's located within 20 minutes of Pinon RV Park in Downtown Santa Fe
Funding problems when the tower was being commisioned prevented the two towers from being completed. They were originally planned to be topped with dramatic 160 foot steeples but unfortunately they were never built. The left tower is a single row of bricks taller than the right tower. (seen in photo - at left) The cathedral was built with yellow limestone bricks quarried near the present site of Lamy also named names after the builder and Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy.

Many bronze statues are placed around the cathedral commemorating historical figures like Kateri Tekakwitha (pictured left) - informally known as Lily of the Mohawks. She contracted smallpox in an epidemic; her family died and her face was scarred. She converted to Roman Catholicism at age nineteen, She passed away at the age of 24.
She was the first North American Indian to be canonized.
